As many of you are aware, starting today Mojang is allowing players to change their usernames.
Only change your username if necessary
First off, if you are planning on changing your username, we ask that you only do so if you feel that it is absolutely necessary. Changing the username so that you can get it before someone else does is a valid reason. Changing it so that you can just test it out is not a good reason, and just creates more work for the admins.
E-mail the admins if you have changed your username
Second, if you have already changed your username, we ask that you e-mail the admins at admin [at] minecartrapidtransit.net with your old and new username.
Some things will break if you change your username
Third, due to the fact that some of our plugins are not quite compatible with UUIDs, the following will happen when you switch:
- Your new username will still retain the same rank as your old username.
- Your in-game money balance will remain with your old username.
- All of your warps, and all personal /homes beyond your first /home will remain with your old username.
- Some of your WorldGuard regions will be migrated to your new username, while others may not.
Again, if you e-mail the admins, we will eventually migrate your balance, warps, and WorldGuard regions over to your new username. Due to how /homes work, we cannot migrate them for you, so you’ll likely have to re-create them yourself.
Please remember that the admins are quite busy with other things, and may not get to migrating your username until much later. Your patience in this matter is appreciated.
Offensive or suggestive usernames are not allowed
Fourth, remember that offensive or suggestive usernames are not allowed. Upon seeing such usernames, we will first warn you to change your username immediately. If you do not, you will be temporarily banned for 30 days, as Mojang has ensured that you can only change your username 30 days after you last name change. If you continue to join the server after your 30-day ban is up, your ban will be converted into a permanent ban.
Wiki usernames cannot be changed…yet
Fifth, currently your wiki username cannot be changed. We are looking to enabling this functionality at a later date, but for now you will need to use your old username for the time being.
