A creative Minecraft 1.20.4 server for transportation and city-building enthusiasts.

Thank you for everything.

Hey folks,

As some of you have noticed, over the last few months I have been online less and less. I’ve been traveling, working, trying not to scream too much, and putting things into boxes. Through all of these things it’s becoming harder for me to come on and build Vermilion (XW15-XW16) or Ashwick (V23), play all the mini games, or just hang out. And it’s about to get harder, because tomorrow morning (September 8th) I am leaving for college.

Along with leaving for college, effective tomorrow, I am resigning as administrator of the MRT.

It’s been amazing working with you guys for the past three years, and I’m excited to see where the server and community go in the future!

I’ve written up a sort of pre-FAQ of things I’m sure you want to know, so please expand the post for all the details, but here’s the essentials:

  • Tomorrow (September 8th) I’m handing off all of my administrative responsibilities. Tom_Pairs has been doing a fantastic job of running the server, and he and the other admins (CG and Thomas) will continue to do so. At that point, my rank will be adjusted to [Governor] on the server.
  • I will do my best to be at the GSM this Saturday to tie up loose ends, field questions, and all that, but because of freshman orientation events during that time, my attendance is not guaranteed. I am planning on coming online on Sunday the 13th.
  • My MRT email address will remain active until at least next Tuesday, September 15th. Beyond that, please email me at metaoctothorpe { at } icloud { dot } com. (Twitter will remain active @chiefbozx.)

Thank you so much for everything, guys – DFTBA.

Why are you resigning?

I’m resigning to focus on my collegiate studies. I’m going to be a freshman at a very highly ranked college, so I need to prioritize school work – after all, you only get to do undergrad once!

Will you still be coming on?

Yes, as much as I can, though I don’t know what that will be like in the future.

Can I take over Vermilion (or some other project)?

Vermilion, no. Some other project, maybe!

I’m still going to hold on to whatever ownership (or partial ownership) of projects I have in the past, at least for the time being. Vermilion is mostly done, so I’m holding on to ownership of that for as long as I can. All subsidiaries of Meta-Corp., including the Vermilion Metropolitan Transportation Authority, will remain in my ownership as well.

HOWEVER, if you know of a project of mine that has been sitting still for a long while, and you’d like to work on it, please send me an email (at the iCloud address above).

Can you do this one last WorldEdit / prank / Snapshot?

No, sadly, I’m moving tomorrow morning and as soon as I hit campus I’m going full speed.

As for pranks, even when I’m not an admin, those will still continue… (I’m looking at you, April Fool’s Day)

When will your MRT email be deactivated?

I will deactivate my end on September 15th, though the address may exist for a little while longer afterwards. (That means I’ll remove it from my devices and such.)

You should probably update your contacts now so that your emails can still get through.

What’s your new email address?

metaoctothorpe { at } icloud { dot } com.

My Twitter will remain @chiefbozx for now.

I hate change! Don’t do this! Nooooooo!!!!! (or some other variant)

I don’t like change either (I’m still freaking out about college), but change in one form or another is inevitable as time passes. For me, the change is that I’m going to become a full-time college student. My college friends tell me that’s not as scary as a change as it sounds, but I want to be as best prepared for it as I can.

I hope to at least come on every now and again to say hi and work on things, especially as a stress reliever from classes. However, I can’t make the commitment to managing the server, and as such I have decided to step down.

Thank you so much for everything, guys. It’s been so much fun being a part of this community, and I’m excited to see where it goes in the future.

Love,

Chief
