Here are the results of the November 2024 GSM:
New Premier Cities: Miu Wan and Firewood City
Two Premier candidates were considered at this GSM, the same two that were considered at the October 2024 GSM but unfortunately did not meet our standards at that time. This time around though, both cities were promoted.
Miu Wan by HarborRandom852 was promoted with a vote of 12-0. Harbor was not present at the meeting, but has provided the following speech:
I joined the MRT over 4 years ago, having heard of it when I was younger. At the time, I had no idea that the city I would build: Miu Wan, would become so big. Nor would I have imagined the things I would do on the server since then. While Im no longer as involved as I was, I am still thankful for the server, and Im still very proud of Miu Wan, despite its imperfections. Thank you all! Remember, always mew for Miu Wan.
Firewood City by Canada_Bucheron was promoted with also a vote of 12-0. Canada was not present at the meeting, but has indicated that they would like say their speech out loud at the next GSM in December. That speech will be posted in the December GSM results on the website.
Congratulations to both Harbor and Canada for becoming our newest Premiers!
Two New Conductors
Two Conductor candidates were considered at this GSM. Both candidates were promoted.
- whale1668 was promoted by a vote of 10-3-0.
- EspiDev was promoted by also a vote of 10-3-0.
Congratulations to whale and Espi for becoming our newest Conductors!
Inactive Asset Maintenance
A proposal by DNAmaster10 to introduce a new category of Inactive Asset Maintenance requests has been approved.
The following description can also be found on the Policies and Procedures page:
An Inactive Asset Maintenance proposal can be submitted to fix a broken asset whose owner is inactive without transferring the asset to the player wishing to make the modification. In general, an IAM can be submitted if the asset is negatively impacting player experience, server performance, or has other technical issues. An IAM cannot be submitted to modify an asset which functions adequately in its current state. All IAMs must have a staff sponsor to oversee the modifications being made. Modifications deemed too large or unnecessary should instead go through an IAT.
Similarly to IATs and IABs, you must first make a reasonable effort to contact the owner of the asset prior to proposing the modification.
In your IAM proposal, please include the following:
- The location of the asset and, if applicable, the name of the town(s) the asset is located within, along with as much relevant information as possible about who currently owns it.
- A brief description of what you’re planning to change and why.
- When the owner was contacted, by which method, and what their response was (if applicable).
- Who your staff sponsor is.
New [Sports] and [Random] in-game channels
Two new in-game channels have been added. In addition, the #sports and #random Discord channels have been moved into their own categories, and now require an opt-in Discord role to view them. Players will need to use the #get-roles channel and click the corresponding buttons to obtain the role.
[Sports]
- For IRL sports discussions.
- Use /sp to access this channel in-game.
- Linked to #sports-minecraft on Discord.
[Random]
- For random posts and memes.
- Use /rand to access this channel in-game.
- Linked to #random-minecraft on Discord.
/homes increased
A proposal by Frumple to increase the number of maximum /homes that a player can have has been approved.
Members can now have a single /home to help them more easily navigate to their residence or business required for the Citizen rank, or to a new town that they are establishing. This increase would also help people with multiple towns or extensive transport networks.
- [Member]: 0 => 1
- [Citizen]: 1 => 3
- [Trustee]: 3 => 5
- [Councillor]: 6 => 10
- [Mayor]: 10 => 20
- [Senator]: 15 => 30
- [Governor]: 20 => 40
- [Premier]: 25 => 50
Definition of Caretaker role for Premier cities deferred
A proposal originally by _frozen to try to officially define the role of caretaker for Premier cities has been deferred to the next GSM.
While we do have a fairly good idea of what the definition of the role should be, from the discussion at the GSM there were still a few open questions that needed to be addressed, such as whether the roles of Deputy Mayor and caretaker should be merged for Premier, and what to do about cities that already have a caretaker assigned. We should be able to make a final decision on these at the December 2024 GSM.
All new builds and major changes in Central City now require a proposal
Effective immediately, players will no longer be allowed to build in Central City and claim empty plots on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. Instead, the following rule is now in place:
In Central City on the New World, adding new builds, removing existing builds, or changing the total land area of an existing build, must be first proposed by e-mail or the #proposals channel for approval by staff.
Considering that there is a lot of talk of revamping many part of Central City in the next year, this change will ensure that all projects in Central City are reviewed by staff, and that other members may chime in about proposals where appropriate. It will also ensure that no new builds in empty plots will suddenly pop-up and potentially throw a wrench into any revamp plans.
Note that this rule does not stop people from making normal changes to their own builds (such as interiors, decorations, and re-assigning transport bays), but if a player wants to expand into a new plot or take over a neighboring building, they will require a proposal.
Eastern Line Southern Extension
The Eastern Line Southern Extension is now complete with the help of bobbygammer and NobodyBestFriend. The following stations have been allocated:
- ES48 – Inkdustdays
- ES51 – RadiantRanger26
All other stations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Beach Line Southern Extension
The Beach Line Southern Extension is now complete with the help of _Athena33 and DNAmaster10. No stations were allocated before the opening of this extension, which means all stations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Next GSM
That’s all for this GSM. See you at the last GSM of the year on Saturday, December 14th at 7pm UTC.
