The Amazing Race 9 – Session 2
July 7, 2018 @ 7:00 pm UTC
The Amazing Race 9 continues, starting from Cassandra’s Dome, Palatium (M9). Watch it live at twitch.tv/frumple.
Statement from Race Director MinecraftYoshi26 on Legs 1 and 2
The Amazing Race 9 had some issues in its first sessions, resulting in Leg 2 being stopped. The placements were taken based off of the location of teams in the leg. Myself, other racers, and streamers talked after Leg 2, and I had some private conversations about the future of this season. After talking to multiple sources and perspectives, I have ultimately come to a decision about this season.
The Amazing Race 9 will continue as normal, but I will go back and edit some of the clues in the future legs, to make a few clues easier and make sure the difficulty progresses as the Race progresses. While I can make clues easier, I cannot guarantee that the Race will be easy nor will I change major parts of the Race. Let me make it clear: the cities I choose to visit are often set on criteria of being unique, interesting to visit, or iconic locations on the server. Locations are repeated sometimes because they are necessary and also there is not much in small towns you can visit (for example, the Quartz Spire in Spring Valley). The Race is purposefully a challenge of navigation and teamwork. As the host, I am not here to hold certain teams’ hands and disadvantage other teams. Additionally, I can only make certain clues so simple. An example is the clue from Spring Valley to Whitechapel which stated to go “west from the bus station” to find a certain location. That clue was clear; though some teams did manage to get lost, and that is out of my control.
After many discussions with people, I have come to the conclusion that while many of the clues on these first two legs were vague, they were not impossible to solve. Therefore, as planned, Leg 2 of the Race is an elimination and MaxStewartS and SirNatureWriter have been eliminated. I apologize for some of the clues for being unnecessarily difficult, but I do appreciate you guys participating. The rest of the placements are on the wiki.
With that, The Amazing Race 9 continues on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 7 p.m. UTC. If you cannot make it or have any questions, please let me know as soon as possible. All remaining contestants will receive an e-mail. If you have any opinions on this matter, whether what be for or against my decision, I will be happy to try to answer them to the best of my ability. Hopefully these next legs to well, and I will hope to see you at the second session, starting at Cassandra’s Dome in Palatium!
I appreciate all of your help and patience with this season of the Race.
