April 2024 GSM Results

Here are the results of the April 2024 GSM:

Premier Review of Mountbatten

Mountbatten by Moj1014 was reviewed for Premier at this GSM, it’s second review having previously been considered at the June 2022 GSM. The town was deemed not quite ready for promotion, receiving a vote of 1-9 against.

Feedback for Mountbatten’s Premier application is available here.

Conductor Applications

Two conductor candidates were considered at this GSM:

  • NetworkSoutheast was promoted by a vote of 9-3-0.
  • 6pro was not promoted by a vote of 4-7-0.

Review of Rail Lines Rule 7

A topic by 7d to repeal Rail Line Rule 7 (the requirement for inter-town rail lines to have a vehicle present at each stop) was discussed by Staff, with the proposal highlighting better hybrid rail opportunities (TrainCarts + Warp Rail) if the rule was lifted. Staff however have rejected this proposal, citing concerns over warp boards being enabled at small towns. Rail Line Rule 7 therefore still applies.

Review of Piston Bolt rail ban

A topic by whale1668 to repeal the current ban on Piston Bolt rail lines was discussed by Staff, with the proposal showing that optimisations to Minecraft since the ban was implemented in 2014 meant that lag was no longer a concern for these rails. Staff however have rejected this proposal, primarily due to recent evidence that worldediting redstone has caused redstone to stop working across the server until a restart; therefore the staff did not want to lift this restriction which may see large amounts of redstone being pasted.

Staff encourage this proposal to be resubmitted for a future GSM when this bug is resolved.

Next GSM

The next GSM will be held on Saturday 11 May at 19:00UTC. Moderator nominations and Conductor applications are due by 19:00 UTC on Saturday 4 May, and other community topics are due by 19:00 UTC on Thursday 9 May.
