Hey everyone,
The next General Staff Meeting will be held this coming Saturday, March 29th at 9pm GMT. At this meeting, I will be proposing a new set of rules and ranks that will take effect when we open up the new world on the server. I’m still finalizing the details at the moment, but I can assure everyone that there will not be a “reset” of ranks for all non-staff players. Instead, new “mayor” ranks will be added on top of the ranks we have now. Again, the details of this plan will be revealed at the meeting, so be sure to attend!
As usual, we will also be promoting players to the Trusted rank. Please post your nominations in the usual place, dft.ba/-MRTNominate, by Friday, March 28.
Please note that we are still a long way off until the new world comes online. If you haven’t noticed, we are currently generating new seeds on the beta server and trying to select one that we think will provide enough interesting landscapes to build on. Once we’ve chosen a seed, the plan is to have staff build some initial MRT lines using the MRT v5.0 schematics.
Recently, I’ve finished some new prototypes for MRT v5.0 alpha 4, which is a much smaller version of alpha 3. You can visit these prototypes at the MRT v5 labs, accessible via a warp at spawn. However, there have been some drastic changes to how minecarts operate in the latest 1.8 snapshots, and there is uncertainty of whether these will make into the final Minecraft 1.8 release. So until that’s resolved, we will likely not even begin construction of the lines on the new world until 1.8 is released and MRT v5 has been verified to work with that version.
We are still aiming for getting the new world out in the next few months, hopefully before the 2nd anniversary of the server. However, with Minecraft 1.8 in the way, plus waiting for Bukkit and various plugins to update, the wait might be even longer. Therefore, the best we can do is plan out things like the rules and ranks well in advance, so that everyone will be better prepared for the changes. All I can ask from you guys is to please be patient with us, and we’ll bring you the very latest information as soon as we have it.
